How to Register

HOW TO REGISTER

You can enroll in English classes at the IWC if you are a Permanent resident, and 18 years or older. Please note that Canadian Citizens are not eligible. Before you can register, you must complete a language assessment at the Assessment Centre, 25 Main St.W. Assessments are provided to help newcomers determine their existing level of language proficiency.

[STEP 1] : COMPLETE AN ASSESSMENT

To register for our English Classes, a free language assessment must be completed to determine your Canadian Language Benchmark. This can be done at YMCA CLARS Language Assessment Centres in Hamilton.

[STEP 2] : REGISTER FOR AN ENGLISH PROGRAM

[ 1 ]  GATHER THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

  • Your Identification (Permanent Resident Card or Government Issues of Proof of Status for those that do not have a Permanent Resident Card)
  • Your Canadian Language Benchmark Report
  • Your Green Referral Sheet from your assessment centre or school

[ 2 ]  To REGISTER FOR LINC CLASSES at the IWC, you can:

  • Register in person at one of our sites, or
  • Register by telephone by calling one of the Site Coordinators, or
  • Register Online by filling out the registration form.
