HYP was created in order to give Hamilton youth a chance to have their voices heard, as well as to expose them to the world of linguistic art. Spoken word is a chance for youth to speak their minds!! Tarek Ajak is a Hamilton-based musician and rapper who performs under the stage name of Mother Tareka. He left Syria with his family when he was in High School during the 1990s and moved to Toronto. Tarek is a youth worker that engages immigrant youth through music and hip hop.
