About Us
OUR VISION at the Immigrants Working Centre is to ensure “Immigrants achieve social and economic success as essential partners in Hamilton’s prosperity”. IWC is a leader in providing settlement services in Hamilton, welcoming new Canadians and supporting their full social, civic and economic participation in the city. Established in 1988, IWC provides a broad range of settlement services to newcomers, including settlement counselling, English language training, employment services, and community connections. We are Hamilton’s only dedicated settlement service organization, delivering in-person and online services in 16 languages at four locations in Hamilton. The IWC Board meets bi-monthly, and members are also expected to join at least one Board committee. Total Board commitment is approximately five hours per month. We are seeking individuals from the community broadly considered to be the Greater Hamilton Region of Southern Ontario.About You
We are currently seeking respected, committed and community-oriented individuals to join our Board of Directors. We currently have up to four seats on the board to fill. Seats seeking skills in:- Finance and accounting
- Governance procedures
- Government and community relations
- Risk management
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Strategic planning and progress reporting
- Fundraising
