Hamilton, Ontario – The Immigrants Working Centre (IWC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Luc Bonaventure Amoussou as the new Executive Director, effective April 3, 2024.
“After a vigorous and thorough hiring process over the past 6 months, the Board is pleased to have Dr. Luc Bonaventure Amoussou take the role of Executive Director.” said Blake McCall, Secretary of the Board. “With 25 years of experience working with and for refugees and immigrants, he will be bringing a diverse wealth of knowledge to the organization and a real passion for the work.”
Dr. Amoussou has been an integral part of IWC, serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors since 2021. He has dedicated his professional career to both teaching and humanitarian efforts, making impactful contributions to immigrant communities worldwide. Bringing over two decades of experience in both non-profit and education sectors, and previously serving as of Regional Director at Collège Boréal, Dr. Amoussou is a mission-driven leader who has demonstrated his commitment to advancing the organization’s goals and fulfilling our vision of supporting immigrants’ social and economic success in Hamilton.
The Board extends our sincere thanks to the hiring committee for their tireless efforts and collaboration in the recruitment process for this crucial role.

The Immigrants Working Centre is an organization based in Hamilton, Ontario funded by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The non-profit supports newcomers through a multi-service, multi-language approach, delivering settlement, employment, language, and community programs to newcomers. Through innovative models of integrated employment-focused settlement and language programming, the Immigrants Working Centre supports newcomers and their families in achieving social and economic success in Hamilton.
