Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Policy Statement

At the Immigrants Working Centre (IWC), we wholeheartedly embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as fundamental principles that shape our organizational culture and guide our mission. Since our establishment in 1988, we have been steadfast in our commitment to fostering an environment that celebrates the unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of all individuals, including our dedicated employees.

Equity is a guiding principle in our commitment. We strive to ensure that every individual has equal access to opportunities, resources, and support within our organization. Our services are designed to address the specific needs of immigrants and our staff, fostering fair and just outcomes in employment, education, skills training, and the overall well-being of everyone involved.

Diversity is a cornerstone of our organization. We view it not only as a representation of the varied cultures, languages, and experiences within our community but also as a celebration of the diversity among our own team. We acknowledge that the collective strength of our organization lies in the blend of perspectives contributed by our employees, each enhancing the richness of our organizational image.

Inclusion is an active and ongoing practice for us. We actively cultivate an environment that promotes collaboration, understanding, and respect among all members of our community, including our valued employees. By embracing diverse voices and experiences within our team, we not only enrich our organization but also contribute to the broader social and economic prosperity of Hamilton.

As we move forward, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in every facet of our work, extending this commitment to our employees.

Our vision is a workplace where every team member feels valued, heard, and included, a community where immigrants, employees, and all stakeholders actively contribute as essential partners in the shared prosperity of Hamilton.

Together, we strive to create an inclusive and equitable space that empowers individuals, fosters collaboration, and ensures a brighter, more interconnected future for all.
