International Women’s Day

March 8th marks International Women’s Day. Observed internationally for over a century, this is an opportunity to recognize women as equitable partners in society. Today, and all days, we celebrate the incredible achievements of women on all social, economic, cultural and political levels.

As an organization created and founded by women, we wholeheartedly acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of women in our communities. Whether it is through our staff, clients or community partners, we applaud the significant contributions of the women around us, despite the unique obstacles they may have had to face. At Immigrants Working Centre, we are committed to providing unwavering support to women in our communities through our work and advocacy. We are devoted to doing the work by challenging all stereotypes, biases and systemic barriers that prevent women from achieving economic success.

Women play a vital role in the fabric of our society beyond their countless contributions. It is through their resilience and demand for change that we are creating a more equitable and just world. As we take a look back on the journeys of women in societies worldwide, we acknowledge that there is still work to be done. Together, we can create a world where women and future generations can thrive in a society free of violence and discrimination.

Today, we encourage you to #EmbraceEquity. Celebrate the women in your communities, amplify their voices and join the conversation. Happy International Women’s Day!
